Introduction

Sir Michael Barber is the man who Tony Blair appointed to create and then run his delivery unit. He originally trained as a teacher and worked in schools both in Britain and Zimbabwe. In 1997, he joined the UK government to become the chief advisor on school standards. It was then in 2001 at the beginning of Tony Blair's second term that Michael founded the PM's delivery unit in number 10 - something which has since been replicated across the globe many times. If you can organise humans to solve problems in government, you can do it anywhere.
