Burton's the Nightmare Before Christmas
After 1992's Batman Returns, he had gone smaller with the film Edward that I've covered before on a previous episode of this podcast. He would of course create and produce The Nightmare Before Christmas, directed by Henry Selig. Mars attacks through a consequence of timing really, followed Independence Day into cinema several months afterwards. So then Burton was lured back to superhero cinema.
