There's a litigiousness to this process that feels counter to the sort of, you know, happy mission of universities and learning for learning's sake. And it seems more like we're in this mode of like an insurance adjuster or something. Part of the insurance package that universities can get and carry covers risk of academic misconduct. These things tend to go on for years and be very expensive.
