Getting a Good Reference Grammar for Any Language

A lot of the books I'm going to recommend are stupid expensive. If you've got your local library is hooked into interlibrary loan you can have them fetch it from someplace reasonably close and you can get it for a few weeks long enough to read and take any notes that you find interesting. reference grammars for any language are good as long as there's a good grammar. You'll see things in those that you wouldn't necessarily see in a grammar.
