The Ukrainian Government's Plan to Take Back Crimea
Ukraine and Russia have been in conflict since 2013, manifestly since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. Amongst the issues at stake in that conflict has been water all along because Crimea is really hot and dry. It depends on fresh water from the Soviet-era canal system to function, or at least it did. In retaliation for the annexation of Crimea, in 2014, Ukraine shut those Soviet-era canals down.
