The New Natural Lawyers and the New Natural Law

The new natural lawyers were the primary opponents of the proportionless, and they developed this theory in response. But other moral theologians who were more domestic in their mindset pointed out that this theory didn't really work either. So after proportionalism was given its death sentence by Veritatis Splendor, the new debate that emerged was not between newnatural law and proportionalism, but rather between new natural law and what's come to be known as old natural law. Natural law understood in Aristotelian or Stoic or Ciceronian or Thomistic terms.
