Aquinas' claim in this article is that human acts are specified by their ends. Our actions take on a moral character, at least an important part of their moral character from their end. There's much more that needs to be said here, classically for Aquinas. The highest appetite is the rational appetite or will,. So the intellect grasps the goodness and therefore is able to order one's life towards it.
