The Struggles of a Jewish Teacher
Liverpool College was the last bastion of colonial Englishness in a city that had long given up on all of that crap, Liverpool College. It was like great gardens. We're inside the teachers. Most of whom we've been teaching since genuinely the first world war still believed that England had an empire and that children should be seen and not heard. And so it's important context to know that American readers are quite appalled and fascinated by it.
