The Pyramids of Snephru
Snephru was a fourth dynasty pharaoh who we mentioned in episode 12 on the Old Kingdom. Snephru is known for his campaigns into Nubia and Libya but he embarked on the next stage of pyramid building which would outdo Jossa at Sakara. The first pyramid of interest is at a place called Maidan. It appears that over time the pyramid of Maidan has fallen into ruin as the uppermost steps appear to now be missing. At its estimated true height it could have been as tall as 90 metres which is one and a half times the height of the step pyramid of Jossa.
