Is Consciousness a Problem of Mind?

There's been a lot of baggage associated with consciousness in the last couple of decades. I think my feeling is we can take it apart, reformulate it in simple terms and eliminate a good deal of what seems to be mysterious. As for the dualism, my own feeling is that that was cast out centuries ago, which is don't know. We assume there are mental processes. Our efforts to make some sense of it, we may postulate itself, but it doesn't mean it's there.
