How Important Is It for Journal Editors to Promote Research?

As a finance professor who is also a journal editor, do you feel that's part of your role to attract this unpopular research and give it a platform? Yes, i do think it's important, as a journal just to publish results based on their scientific accuracy, but plass based on their significance. And by significance, i don't mean finding a significant result in the direction that we want, but working on important topics.
