The Language of the Emergency
Slava Zizek has named subjective violence, the spectacular violence. What is overlooked in such endless attention to the emergency undergirds structural violence that undergirds it. This includes imperial power and hubris that enables the United States to conduct its wars so very far from home. And all of those are framed as non-political projects or post-political projects. It's in the name of humanity, in thename of human rights, and in the names of suffering.
