The Importance of Structured Debate
I'm not a big fan of formal Oxford style debates with two teams. I think it encourages cheap shots and what we call debating tricks. We don't seem to do that structure to debate very well anymore. Maybe for high school kids that kind of structure debate as a team sport is good training, but I generally turn down invitations to take part in those yes and no Oxford style debates.
