I wanted to know what drew you to that kind of phenomenon because Carrie and I both noticed that in the acknowledgments, you write that you spoke to a number of experts about the phenomenon of hearing voices. So did it feel very important to take that very seriously and to get it right? Oh, yes. I have friends who do hear voices. And so this is something I've known about and have engaged with for quite a while. Also at the heart of this book, there's a kind of Zen question, a Zen parable or a koan, a little puzzle.
