The Mechanism of Literary Terrorization in Works by the Chinese Northeastern Writers

Chinese writers were born in Manchuria but relocated to China proper after Japan took over the region in 1931. Writing mostly about their homeland with nationalist sentiment, they have been canonized in Chinese literary history as pioneers of nationalist and anti-Japanese literature. Author argues that these writers had to put a fair amount of creative labor into representing Manchuria as an inherently Chinese land because it was contested frontier populated by multiple peoples at the time.
