Rembrandt on Abraham's Sacrifice of Isaac

Rembrandt's famous painting of Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac. It always struck me that most people paint that scene with the angel reaching down and stopping Abraham's hand. But Rembrandt actually has the angel grab his hand and the knife is out of Abraham's hand, it's like he's dropped the knife in mid-air.
