The Socratic Method of Talking to Someone

I think that as long as we have conversation, there is hope for people to be hearing things. We don't really enter into public discourse with humility often,. But i think it's so sha. If you ever stray from this politeness, it doesn't matter if you feel like you getting somewhere with it, you'e probably not.

as long as we have conversation, there is hope for people to be hearing things. That's aly wong. Something that i've been saying to many of my close friends and families is i think that it's really important for us to understand that we're not all experts in everything. Nw. You can have a conversation on something, whether it's the economy or environmentalism or nuclear policy, and oftentimes we enter into a dialogue thinking that just because we've watched the news, we're an expert on something. That's not true. I don't know a lot about the economy. I don't know a lot about environmentalism. I know a lot about nuclear policy. And so i'd like to believe that if i enter into a conversation about economic reform, i can take a back seat and say, hey, would you teach me about that? Would you? Would you a share with me about your experties? Can you chime in on that? Because i don't know. And i think that we don't really enter into public discourse with humility often. But

i think it's so sha. I think it's actually really interesting, in talking about the socratic method, to go back and actually read the original socratic dialogues. A lot of them are somewhat dated, obviously, but the actual techniques that are used there, even though it's an invented conversation, the actual er techniques that are used there o thes can a very gentle and e polite exchange between two people. And what you want to do, or doing a socratic method of talking to somebody, is to maintain that tone to professional people politely discussing a topic. And if you ever stray from it, it doesn't matter if you feel like you getting somewhere with it, you'e probably not. If you're straying away from this politeness, and you threaten to get a bit angry with each other a then you take it back and perhaps go in a different direction, talk about something else for a while, and then gonei towards

the actual topic.
