The Tax Blast on the Middle Class
On average, the bottom 60% by income actually receive more back from the federal government than they pay in. It's only the top 40% who are paying. The next one up from the bottom 20%, they pay a net negative almost 40%. Middle income American households, on average, end up at negative 15%. So they're 15% better off than before taxes and transfers.
