The Break: Black Study

Black study is a term that speaks to the nature of Black thinking and study. It was there for scholars who were surrounded, as I write, in the introduction by Stefan O'Herny and Fred Moten's 2013 book The Undercommons. And so because it's before and beyond, it was there for them to pick it up. In other words, black study is a breaking away of how we've always been taught to see ourselves by this academic and societal structure.
