This month marks the eightieth anniversary of the fall of singapore, which fell in february 19 for two. It was described by winston churchill as the worst disaster and largest capitulation in british history. The anglo japanese alliance had been established in 19 o two, the first of the british alliances. But at the washington conference there was a major change in the way that naval forces were constructedind there were limits placed upon them. And this merely galvanized,. i think, the japanese nationalists and we're going to have to be in it to ourselves.
