The Evolution of Butterflies

A recent study looked at the DNA of tons of different butterflies. They sequenced 391 genes from 2,300 butterfly species. It was able to represent 92% of all butterfly genera. Butterflies are a diurnal version of moths and emerged 100 million years ago in North America.
