The Relationship Between Law Enforcement and Hollywood in the 1960s
The relationship between law enforcement and Hollywood remained close throughout the 60s and 70s. Jack Webb's portfolio included social services, such as helping a woman who had abandoned her child or solving a robbery at a Latino church right before Christmas. Compared to present day perceptions of the police, it's almost shocking how warmly they were portrayed in these early cop shows. There are over 5000 men in this city who know that being a policeman is an endless, glamorous, thankless job that's got to be done.
