The older an animal is, the more likely it is already to have reproduced ri so all descended from ancestors. Most of whom reproduced when they were relatively young. But very often whatever it took to be successful when you were young made you actually more likely to die. And that's the sort of model for the darwinian theory of aging. We are here to spawn and to insure that our progeny successfully spawn.
