Scott Young: I've been studying Chinese for seven years doing the flashcards. He says that you have to actually recall it from memory. You get used to producing the sounds with your mouth, which is also important because very often you will hear it and you can understand it perfectly. But then when it comes time to say it, you haven't been getting any feedback on your pronunciation. It's a whole unique beast. Another language would be much easier.
