Introduction
Robin Hanson is an economist at GMU, George Mason University. He got his PhD in 1997 from Caltech after a four-year graduate program. His introduction to health and medicine was during a two-year health policy postdoc. In 1999 he came up with a simple signaling story to address many of these puzzles. It led him to consider similar explanations to make sense of other industries or human behavior.
