The Bicameral Mind

In James' new book, he says that ancient people had words to describe the bicameral voices in their head. In Egypt, there's this word called kah, translated in very different ways as some kind of spirit or personal spirit. He goes over ili, which is thought of as being as a personal god related to the Semitic root for god in general. That's what he thinks of as being the biacameral voice. Even during the Bronze Age collapse, you might look back at these concepts and be confused by them, and you don't really know how to translate them.
