Facebook Is Just Behaving According to Inexorable Capitalist Logic
i think there's been so many cycles of concern about the amount of power that facebook has. Mark zockeberg consistently defended it not based on inexorable capitalist logic, but based on this idea that connecting people was an inherent social good. There's plenty of research on the roll of radio in the roandan genicide, for example. And like, it's not like this information wasn't out there for zuckerberg and company to consume, had they been concerned about it.
