What's the Difference?

Early writings in American English suggest there wasn't much of a North South divide at the time. A lot of early settlers came from southeastern England, which had an early non-rotic accent. The outer banks of North Carolina and the tidewater region of Virginia have a very specific accent called Hoytoyd.
