The Second Moslem Siege in Constantinople

The siege of constantinople took place some forty years after the first one. Byzantines were able to establish authority over their remaining asiatic territories. The moslems also possessed naptha, a highly flammable liquid extracted from fossil fuves and called naptha. This was propelled towards the wooden ships of the arabs that would also sit on the water's surface,. ablaze, making it impossible for some of the arab fleet to even simply escape the scene.
