Always lead with curiosity, and also include your rational why are you asking? Just to show it's not political. Show respect for their their position. Understand that yu may be asking them something that they've already thought about. Don't ask the question in a way that acknowledges you're not necessarily thi brilliant person who's thought of something nobody ever thought of before. Bring humility to your questioning. At the same time, be confident.
