The Emotions That Come Up in My Clients and Patients

A lot of times, hoarding disorder can be triggered by traumas. When changes take place in a person's life that are outside of their control, that they have a traumatic wound inside of them. I've found that my clients who transitioned into another residential setting without their permission really or their involvement will try to reclaim their space. So if they had been in a five bedroom house, they may try to make their one bedroom assisted living apartment look like their five bedroom home. But it's much different and difficult to do that in a much smaller space.
