Left and right have turned into two rival religions locked in a kind of holy war, with zealots out front on the field of battle or at least on social media. We've turned politics from a practical way to solve common problems into a cultural arena to display resentments,. That's one of the reasons there is so much anxiety and anger right now around politics. It's no longer just about how we can function well as a society; it's become more than that: an attempt to forge the kingdom without the king.
