In the Greek, Peter hasn't proven himself. The thing that Jesus asked him to do, he cannot do. So you could argue that Peter is not 100% reconciled even in John 21. Magdala is always introduced as Mary Magdalene's hometown. But if Mary is of Bethany, then can Mary also be of Magdala?
