The Importance of Spatial and Temporal Context in Social Media
A lot of the things that I find troubling and dissatisfying about commercial social media actually boil down to lack of spatial and temporal context. That's why it was important for the Amazon piece to be written from the point of view of a person who is trying to figure out what they're looking at. Like think about the amount of information that you receive online that you didn't even ask for, not in an order that makes sense,. Not at a time that would make sense for you to be looking at it. It just so happens that that is very good for business if your business is trying to get people to be engaged all the time.
