The Interplay Between Politics and Economics

Political economy is the use of tools like game theory and empirical methods for causal inference to study political institutions and behavior. Historically, there have been relatively few programs that are tailored to providing that sort of training with a substantive focus. The new PhD program in political economy then solves this problem for both units. It provides an opportunity for students to receive this sort of accelerated training but not in an economics department.
