Is China Going to Be a Threat?
I think the robust assumption for policymakers in Washington is that China will continue to grow rapidly. I would make exactly if I were planning Beijing strategy, I would take your scenario. My point isn't China will definitely grow to be bigger than the United States or bigger than the U.S and Europe. It's that it will might. But there was a period in which people were saying, oh, well, of course, as part of economic liberalization, China will politically liberalize. The party stands above the constitution.
