The Battle of the Franco-Spanish Fleet
The Franco-Spanish line was in a kind of crescent, but so widespread over such distances that one could hardly see where the line was. The aerial view would make it difficult to get a pattern. They had to keep long distances, not to endanger ships crashing into each other. Nelson's plan was not to fight in such a line. He planned to focus on the enemy at the center and rear of their line.
