The Entangled Culture of the Eastern Mediterranean
The Philistines didn't capture and destroy the Canaanites' cities, but rather, apparently, in almost all of them, the Philistines settled there. The people coming from afar settled there alongside the Canaanites and formed what I've been using a term in recent years, an entangled culture. It's comprised of various peoples from abroad, and not one group coming from abroad, but coming from various areas, along with locals. All that together formed this entangled, mixed, I like calling it, it's not a Greek salad, it's a Mediterranean salad.
