Is God Receiving Something From Us?
In Aristotle's categories, for example, one of the ways that things can be categorized is in terms of action and passion. Something acts on another and something else is the recipient or undergoes that action. The question is, okay, metaphysically is God receiving something from us? Is God undergoing something in a way like a creature undergoes something? So if I light a candle, I'm acting on the candle, the candle is the patient or the recipient of the action. And so there's a sense in which we are doing something to God.
