Most of the time what happens is. our adaptive response fear, which was evolutionarily very useful to have us avoid things that could be harmful. We usually actually get the causation wrong when we go up for public speaking and we have a painful experience. One shrinks your world unnecessarily. The other one gives you the capacity to say, is there something that I can actually do in the presence of the stimuli?
