Tichubah, a Slave in a Foreign Land

Tichubah was not from the northeast, or even North America. It's highly likely that she was kidnapped into slavery around the age of ten and taken straight to Barbados for domestic servants. A color of her skin placed her firmly outside the community in every practical sense,. If a white settler broke a minor law, they would typically be fined. A slave though would face physical punishment.
