Captain Kirk's Disobedience to the Army

There's a character in the book called Richard Sharpe who is very Captain Kirk-like. He doesn't not believe in the army, he just thinks some of the rules are stupid and shouldn't listen to them. And there's like a whole interlude after the first big battle sequence where he basically is like, yo, these guys are going to get disciplined and they don't want to. So I need to at least sort of facilitate it.
