How to Avoid the Loopholes in Minimum Wage Laws
FDR's administration worked with lawmakers to pass a federal minimum wage. There was a long history of companies looking for loopholes in employee protection laws. A coal mining company tried to argue that it didn't have to pay for injuries suffered on the job. Lawmakers were thinking about cases like that one when they wrote the minimum wage law.
