Money is the literal currency in the relationship. It can either be a source of empowerment and respect, or being a point of serious contention. Our spending and saving behaviors are just an expression of our value systems. And if our values are hella autawack, it's going to cause friction. When your husband buys a new car without telling you, he's saying, i value this car more than i value the potential energy that that money could have turned to.
