The Importance of Internal Models
Your brain's job is to build an internal model of the outside world so that it understands what is happening out there. Everything in your life is represented in this internal model. If something is not in your model then it just doesn't strike you. We always think our understanding of the world is complete, but we're always facing situations where we say, "Oh I didn't know that"
