The Viking Funeral
Loved ones stay with the body around the clock to comfort the spirit of the dead. It's also thought that the person who closes the window would be cursed. The deceased was dressed in their best clothes, but in the past they would be wrapped in a shroud. And when removing the coffin from the home, it would be taken out with the feet first so that the spirit couldn't find their way back into the hole.
