In 1923, the house was worth around $5 million. It is now equivalent to 71 million. Sarah Winchester had an advanced heating system and indoor plumbing faucets at that time. She also used a device called an enunciator which allowed her to communicate throughout the house with staff who were spread among hundreds of rooms.
