How to Have Compassion for Selfless Beings
In Buddhist thought, they make a distinction between conventional and ultimate truth. And in terms of conventional truth, there are sentient beings. Ultimately, when we talk about selflessness or emptiness, depending on which tradition we're in, there are no sentient beings. There's no anything else either. So the analogy that I often make is between physics, that in modern physics as well. You can do things like make atomic bombs with it. It's such a powerful idea. But by no means does it just simply dispel conventional reality?
