Is There a Problem With Memory Safety in the Real World?
I was thinking about how some of the benefits of memory safety can feel abstract, especially for folks in university or learning. And then it feels indelible and painful to people with more experience or later in their careers. It can be hard to kind of get off of that train and hard to sell the benefits of changing tax because there's not zero risk of making such a significant change. But I'm like, ultimately, I feel like what these issues are more important. The only person I've heard expressed that sentiment is Adam's teenager.
Yael Grauer joined Bryan, Adam, Steve Klabnik, and the Oxide Friends to talk about her recent Consumer Reports article on memory safety and memory safe languages. How do we inform the general public? How do we persuade practitioners and companies? Thanks for joining us, Yael!
In addition to Bryan Cantrill and Adam Leventhal, we were joined by special guest Yael Grauer, and Steve Klabnik.
