History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps

CHAPTER

The Meditations of Marcus Aquinas

Marcus was a man of action who did not identify himself with his actions, but rather with his thoughts. The meditation is a work that can speak to any one, even if it was written by an emperor for his own benefit. What marcus offers us is a crash course in therapy for the soul. And this therapy asks us to withdraw into an invulnerable, detached self - what marcus calls his inner citadel. In two weeks we'll be retracing our steps and returning to the days of aristotle to look at the first sceptic, pyro of elis.
